Community Matters - December 2025

A fantastic £3500 was raised for Burwell surgery's medical fund at the Annual Pete Manchett Memorial Golf Day in October. After some torrential downpours leading up to the event, dawn brought an optimistic autumnal sunrise and the day remained dry. The event was attended by colleagues from Patersons, Manchetts Recovery, Peterborough & Sleaford, longstanding and new customers, alongside Pete Manchett’s golf buddies too.

Manchetts Peterborough have increased their sports sponsorship portfolio to include Whittlesey Warriors U12 netball team who recently qualified for Division A of the Cambridgeshire league. Particularly proud of this success is workshop controller, John Clarke, whose daughter has been selected for the team.

In November, the team at Manchetts Newmarket collected 60 winter coats in support of Bury St Edmunds Drop In. 

Bury Drop In is a registered charity supporting people who are homeless and vulnerably housed the area. Their guests include the street homeless, rough sleepers, sofa-surfers, those in temporary accommodation, and people who were homeless but need support to avoid falling back into homelessness.

Teams at Manchetts Peterborough, Newmarket and Patersons brought on their Great British Bake-Off skills to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee and Cake Morning in September. Packages were sent out to Recovery, Burwell and Head Office to swell the funds and an impressive £700 was raised by all. There were so many generous and delicioius contributions at both sites that the morning spanned 3 days! 



Jamie Darkin of Patersons demonstrated that his Guiness and chocolate velvet cake was of the same inimitable smooth standards as his workmanship. Jeni Davy, HR Lead, created her traditional cupcakes, and Paul Jenkins made his ‘almost nothing but cheese’ cheese straws.
