Using specialist equipment, the recovery team deployed a crane to lift the rear of the trailer while simultaneously winching the vehicle forward. This coordinated operation allowed the articulated lorry to be carefully guided back onto firm, dry road without causing damage. The team said the water up to waists was absolutely freezing !!

A heavy goods vehicle was safely recovered after becoming stranded in floodwater at WelneyWash, 

The near-side rear trailer wheels slipped off the carriageway into soft ground hidden beneath deep water. The trailer began to lean heavily to one side, leaving the driver unable to regain traction or move the vehicle.

Sean Manchett said the incident highlights the hidden dangers of driving through floodwater, particularly at locations such as WelneyWash where road edges can be difficult to see.

“Standing water can disguise soft verges and sudden drop-offs that pose a serious risk to heavy vehicles,” he said. “Our priority is always a safe, controlled, damage-free recovery"
